This is a space that offers  guidance and information about our services.  The intention of Moncton Doula Care is to help women to empower themselves. Would you like to experience a natural pregnancy, birth and lifestyle?  If you are pregnant or are ready to make a conscious choice to become a Mother you are in a great place.

What is a Doula?

Doula is an ancient Greek derived word that refers to “a woman experienced in childbirth who serves another woman during her childbirth time.”  A doula is a non-medical assistant in prenatal care, childbirth and during the postpartum period.

Through ancient times to present women giving birth have found comfort and compassion in being surrounded by other wise women.  A doula is present to support and encourage those going through the transition of pregnancy to birth and beyond.  Pregnancy and the birth experience is a great opportunity to recognize the ability to empower oneself.

During this time a woman’s power that lies within is at a heightened state.  A doula helps the mother to recognize and encourage her to embrace that power.  She does not take the place of the husband or partner, but is there to guide, encourage and support.  The doula is a facilitator of change that is present during the transition for mother, baby, partner and family.

Choosing a doula is a personal choice.  The doula should be someone that you feel comfortable with, trust, has compassion and embraces your wishes.  Your doula is a woman that you feel a connection to and enjoy talking with as well as her presence.  She will be there to answer your questions, concerns and more.

A doula may offer prenatal, birth and post natal services depending on your needs.  Prices vary according to area and services provided.
